About Us
Who we are
At Hardwired Coaching we uncover the unchanging nature of each individual. Rather than focusing on personality traits that shift with mood or circumstance, we measure the part of you that cannot be faked—a set of core motivations that remain consistent over time. We believe every person on this earth has a unique capacity to positively impact the world. Unfortunately, that capacity is often overlooked, misunderstood, or underutilized. Through the most reliable psychometric tools available, we reveal this hidden potential and help you unleash it, whether you are an individual seeking personal growth or an organization looking to maximize team performance.
Our Philosophy: Measuring the Unchanging
Conventional personality tests—whether labeled by letters, animals, or whimsical pop-culture references—provide fleeting snapshots of who you might be at a given moment. While there’s nothing wrong with understanding personality, it can fluctuate significantly based on relationships, life stage, or even what you had for breakfast. By contrast, we focus on your innate hardwiring: the unique way you’re designed to respond to life and work, regardless of circumstance. This information empowers you to make better decisions, position people in roles that fit, and ultimately achieve your goals with greater efficiency and fulfillment.
The Core Values Index™: Beyond Personality
At the heart of Hardwired Coaching’s approach is the Core Values Index™ (CVI). Unlike traditional assessments that merely highlight traits or interests, the CVI identifies the core motivations that drive you. These motivations remain stable, offering:
97.7% Repeatability: Because it measures hardwiring, not fleeting preferences or moods.
Rapid Insight: The CVI takes only about 7–9 minutes to complete, yet it reveals decades’ worth of understanding about a person’s true capacity.
Practical Application: From team-building to crisis prevention, the CVI’s clarity helps you quickly see where someone is best suited to thrive.
In short, while other tools measure personality, IQ, predictive behavioral insights, emotional intelligence, and Disney princesses, we measure capacity—the amount and kind of energy you bring to a given moment, and when you run out.
Meet Justin Erickson, President
Justin Erickson has spent over 25 years leading diverse teams across law enforcement, corporations, small businesses, athletic organizations, military units, scholastic environments, and faith communities. His experience has taught him that people are often placed in roles without the clarity or support they need to flourish. By using reliable psychometrics like the Core Values Index™, Justin focuses on uncovering what people are truly capable of, helping leaders assemble teams that function cohesively and purposefully. This passion for “getting the right people to do the right thing at the right time, in the right way, and for the right reason” led him to become a pioneering voice in leadership coaching, consulting, and training.
Through Hardwired Coaching, Justin helps individuals and organizations measure their hidden capacities, unlock untapped potential, and align talents for maximum impact. When he’s not coaching or consulting, Justin serves as a pastor at Desert Bible Church in Scottsdale, Arizona, and speaks on topics of leadership and personal development. Services:
Hardwired Coaching has been privileged to provide service to our clients within the following classifications of work:
Military Installations — Three phases of training over two years within the United States Strategic Command: Phase I the DCAG team (2 FGOs and three GS civilians). Phase II included senior leadership (DCOM, CoS, CSEL, DCoS, J1, and J83). Phase III involved all of the GO/FO/SES, Directors, Deputy Directors, STAs, Chiefs of Staff, and SELs. Other military/government trainings included the Air Force Academy Foundation and the Air Force Association of Graduates Executive Leadership.
Law Enforcement — HWC has trained nearly 400 LEO agencies in the Core Values Index, orgs as large as Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and as small as Paradise Valley, AZ. HWC has provided CVI training modules for Police Chief’s, Deputy Chief’s, Sheriffs, Undersheriffs, Commanders, Lieutenants, Corporals, Sergeants, Detectives, Patrol and Admin. Specifically, HWC has helped LEOs to match use of force to hardwiring, reduce use of force complaints, add self-awareness to situational awareness, improve communication and team dynamics, aid in PTSD recovery and overall wellness, and rebuild trust within communities while upholding justice. This at the direction of state legislatures and federal executives.
Recidivism Reduction — In partnership with Law Enforcement, Corrections, and nonprofit advocacy organizations, HWC has used the CVI to address the problem of inmates who return to incarceration after reoffending, by aligning them with occupations that generate a legitimate income, equipping them to reenter society and relationships with healthy conflict strategies, and interventions that interrupts patterns of criminal behavior.
Large Corporations and Small Businesses — Starting at the C-Suite level and moving downward to the most entry level positions, HWC uses the CVI to align people to their highest and best contribution on teams, establish workflows for projects, strengthen work culture, and provide a safe basis for recruiting, hiring, training, promoting, and where needed correcting. This includes 26 separate HR departments within the Native American territories of Arizona. Varying genres of work include marketing, digital security, dairy farming, mining, transportation, insurance, information technology, software development, automobile sales and service, bus and coach line charter sales, executive protection, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, behavioral health, pregnancy centers, pool services, and the entertainment industry (acting, gaming, and visual effects for movies).
Executive Coaching — HWC has provided extended, personal, one-on-one executive coaching for C-Suite and executive leaders using the CVI to make critical and consequential business and operational decisions, while also offering a safe and confidential space to address high-level personal and family needs.
Education Institutions — With the addition of a sister company, Hardwired Learning (est. 2022), HWC has served school board members, superintendents, administrators, teachers, and students of college, high school, junior high, and elementary institutions, using the CVI to match the curriculum of the teachers to the learning style of the students. HWC teaches the students to learn to learn before the learning process is over, then use what they learn in a practical application of their CVI. The reach of HWL extends as far as the executive leadership of a National School Association to one state’s most challenging district.
Political Figures — HWC has given ongoing and direct coaching to candidates actively campaigning for political offices at the Gubernatorial, Attorney General, State and Local Legislative, County Sheriff, and Party Chairmanship levels. HWC has also actively participated with members of the state government to address the problem of human trafficking, using the CVI.
Athletic Programs — HWC has been pleased to provide training for NCAA Division 1 Collegiate coaches, players, and directors of football, basketball, and wrestling programs in Nebraska, Arizona, and California, as well as non-profit organizations that support collegiate and high school athletic programs for life enhancement and player development.
Faith Communities — Churches of all sizes (from 14,000 to 60), church search organizations, and para-church ministries have utilized the training of HWC to recruit and install pastors and worship leaders, unite divided church leadership boards, align members to service within their churches, enable congregations to survive pastoral transitions, improve overall church culture, and instigate outreach within their communities. Of note is HWC’s intense involvement with the Transformation Project in Colorado Springs, CO. Well known for its high crime and poverty rates, students from the Transformation Project are equipped to partner with faith-based and community organizations including churches to render meaningful community engagement that also provides vocational opportunity for each graduate.
